Pulmonary embolism + new technology + huge market
Jupiter Endovascular’s core product is the Vertex pulmonary embolism clearance system, based on its proprietary Endoportal Control platform technology (also known as TFX technology).
The core principle of the Endoportal Control platform is “morphologically variable fixation.” This technology draws upon the parent company Neptune Medical’s expertise in gastrointestinal endoscopy, enabling instant switching between “flexible navigation” and “rigid fixation” states for the catheter.
Specifically, this technology utilizes hydrostatic pressure to achieve this state transition. During delivery, the catheter is in a flexible, relaxed state, allowing it to traverse the tortuous vascular system along the guidewire. Upon reaching the target location, saline solution is injected into the catheter via a handle, pressurizing and hardening the catheter to fix it within the anatomical structure, forming a stable operating platform. After treatment, releasing the pressure restores the catheter’s flexibility, facilitating repositioning or withdrawal.
The catheter body employs a multi-layered composite structure, with an outer layer coated with a hydrophilic lubricating coating to reduce vascular friction. The entire catheter length is radiopaque, facilitating real-time intraoperative positioning; the distal tip has a non-radioactive zone of no more than 5mm as a safety buffer.
The handle system integrates flushing tubing, fixation control tubing, and hemostatic valve for unified operation. A locking dilator ensures a tight seal during instrument exchanges.
The system centers on large-diameter aspiration. After establishing a stable channel via the Endoportal catheter, the aspiration catheter can be safely advanced deep into the distal pulmonary vessels to capture hard-to-reach thrombi. This design significantly reduces the need for repeated guidewire and instrument exchanges in traditional procedures, minimizing mechanical stimulation to the right heart and pulmonary valve.
The Vertex system is primarily designed for patients with acute intermediate-risk pulmonary embolism, aiming to address two major challenges of traditional transcatheter pulmonary thrombectomy: firstly, the cardiac stress and anatomical deformation caused by large-diameter rigid catheters crossing the right heart and pulmonary valve; and secondly, the low aspiration efficiency due to the difficulty in maintaining catheter stability during the procedure.
